The first two photos show Thurcroft Colliery First Aid Team receiving the H.L.Brown Challenge Shield that the team won in 1969 and 1973.
This prestigious competition (Invitation Only ) has been running for over 120 years.
The lady in the photo is Mrs Doncaster, of Doncaster Steel, Sheffield.

The five photographs below were very kindly provided by Mr John Turner 53A Models of Hull Collection. They show British Rail Loco (31327). At approx 9: 30am on 11th February 1983. Garry Cartwright took the following photo's from the bridge area at the bottom of Laughton Road. The Loco is arriving with empty wagons in photo 1. photo 2 shows it shunting round wagons. photo 3 is of Train at rear end and proceeding up to the Pit in the back ground. The last 2 photos shows full train of Coal leaving down the South Yorkshire Joint Railway Line.

The photograph below was very kindly sent in by Harry Lockyer it shows Harry ( left ) and Eric Steer in Thurcroft Colliery Club in Dec1985. Both men had recieved from their work mates a Clock each on the retierments. Harry was the Dust officer, and Eric the Pit Safety officer.

All the photographs were taken by Mrs Portman-Brookes father Mr John Portman in 1993 on the first photo you can
see that the Coal Prep Plant is partly dismantled and the Headgear has had the winding ropes removed.

The photograph below has very kindly been sent in by Mr David Hayes. It shows his Granddad Mr Charles Ashmore.
Mr Ashmore worked at Thurcroft Pit in 1933 at the age of 15yrs he had an accident underground where he lost his
right leg. The documents that accompany this photo are in relation to a compensation claim, and a bill for the
cost of an Artificial Leg at half price. The last photo shows Mr Ashmore just after his accident in 1933.
