The photo's below were very kindly sent in by Mr Ron Plant, the first four show the trip to the USSR Ronnie made with his wife and daughter along with mining family's from many areas of the National Coal Board along with Mr Arthur Scargill, the photo's were taken in 1972. Ronnie
explained that the party went by boat from England to Copenhagen then to Helsinki and then to Leningrad. From Leningrad by train to Moscow
on an overnight sleeper train. The welcome from the Russians was excellent said Ron and they could not do enough for us. We also went to the Ukraine and had a visit to a Coal Mine were all the men went on an underground visit, returning to Moscow by propeller driven plane then after
several days visiting the sights they returned to England by Jet aircraft.

The two Manpower Team lists below was very kindly sent in by Mr Jim Fortune. The first one is for the Afternoon shift on 56s Coal Face.
Second Manpower Team list is for all three shifts, Days Afternoons and Nights on 21s Coal Face in the Park Gate seam.

The Map and list of signatory's below was very kindly sent in by David Parry. it is part of an NUM book on Agreements and Wage rates,
1926 -- 1946. The Pit names are a little hard to read ( map is as large as possible ), the amount of Pit's in South Yorkshire
prior to Nationalisation in the 1940s can clearly be seen.

The Wage Packet below was very kindly sent in by Arthur Whatley. As can be seen it's dated 23 June 1944, Arthur's number at the top is 279, just above the date (very faint) is United Steel Companies who at the time owned Thurcroft Pit. His basic rate was 10 shillings and nine pence ( 54 pence) in todays money, and his Health and Unemployment contribution was 1 shilling and 10 pence ( 9p)
