One of the last Photo's taken of the pit yard and winding gear, the red brick building to the Right of photo was a new Fan House and Drift, completed just prior to the mine being closed.

Below are three photo's of Thurcroft Colliery Band, first two taken on 21 June 1958. It is a photo of the Miners Demonstration in Barnsley. The band leader is George Sykes. The second photo is a blown up section showing the the people in front of the banner.
Below in the enlarged section of the above photo shows Band leader George Sykes, second from left front row George Close, Big Drum Dereck Denny, at the back of the outside row behind the First Aid man is George Downing and behind him is Jack Finnie, both NUM officials. Two behind Jack is Johnny Palaz (no hat ), in front of him is Jack Smith.
Last photo shows Band Marching up Katherine Road with the NUM Branch Banner in the back ground. The old Bottom Club can be seen in the back ground.They are out of uniform because at that time the band did'nt have any uniforms. Thanks to Mrs S, Close for use of photo's.
The three photos below were kindley sent in by Mrs P Thomas and the first two show Mrs Thomas father Mr Bob Tye who was a Fitter along side Mr Bill Holloway a Winder, photo on left is we think took in the Fitting shops, and the photo on the right was in the No 1 Winding Engine House as the winder was changed from Steam winding to Electric power.
The third photo shows a group of men underground possibly from the 1950s Mr Tye is second row second right, Griffith John Reece is third from right back row, most of the other men look like fitters,and it's the installation of the Eickoff, at the top of the Barnsley Drift. If any viewer knows any of the men on the photo please let us know.
As a foot note to the above photo Mr Gordon Squires as identified his uncle Mr Derek Blackwell, 3rd from the left and Mr Ron Tipping center back. Also Mr Michael Clark has identified his Father Mr Bill Clark, Second left, back row.

The photo below is from the Coal News 1975/6 and we think it is celebrating the record of opening 6s Face line from HO1s supply gate with a Dosco. There are many well known faces on the photo including, Alan Hitchins, Dennis Hollins, Harry Elliot, Billy Lloyd, Bob Everitt, Mr Walters [under manager] R Kennedy, J Orridge, G Shelldon, G Dodsworth, I Allen, W Whatley, R Shepheard, among others.
