This lovely old photograph was sent in by Richard Morris, it shows his two brothers Tony at the controls and George riding pillion. It is taken at the top of Charles Street in approx 1950. They are sat on their fathers Ariel motor bike and sidecar. A popular transport of the day before the motor car became more available.

The small tribute cartoon below was sent in by Andy Cartledge (BLIST), it shows Tommy Walker with his Horse and cart, and trade mark black Beret, delivering a load of coal to a house in one of the Back's. Andy's cartoons can be seen regular in the Rotherham Advertiser.

The five photographs below were very kindly sent in by Annette Wade, the first two shows members of the Lote family ( a well known Thurcroft family) first photo is of Mrs Florence Lote outside her home and the winner of the first prize for the best decorated house in the village, we think the occasion was the Coronation of King George VI in May 1937.
Second photo is of Mr Joe Lote with his Ice Cream tub and barrow, from the 1920s
Third photo shows Church Choir of 1921, in front of the then Church. Seated in front centre is the Rev Kendall and to his right John Lote church warden.
Fourth photo, is of Thurcroft Dramatics. The woman standing on the right of photo is Annette's auntie, Miss Audrey Bell, date unknown.
Fifth photo looks like a trip out in the 1920s, the Charabanc with solid rubber tyres and carbide light's is full up. With men sat on the bonnet and a group in front, this is a Thurcroft outing and many of the people on the photo must have been early mining family's in the village.

Other names that have been given for men on the photo are, Cyril Haywood, Jim Bratley, Wilber Shepherd, Tommy Finnie, Albert Mitchell, and a Mr Smith. Rowland Heathcote was also a member and could be on the photo. I wonder who the little boy is sticking out on the right hand side ?.
