The photo below. On the right hand chimney can be seen a Ladder from top to bottom, also at the bottom can be seen what looks like a section that has been knocked through to the inside. The photo appears to show the start of the demolition of the two Boiler House chimneys.

Next four photo's are taken from the Coal Prep Plant. No2 (shonkey) Headgear on the right. Both old and new Fan Houses (centre), beyond the car park (on the grass )is the Weigh Office and beyond that the Managers Block, Under managers / Mechanical / Electrical engineers office and the Safety Dept office.
Below, No2 Headgear and Air Lock (left). No2 Engine House/winder (centre). No1 Headgear (right) with Engine House/winder behind. Long low building in the back ground was the Boiler House.
No1 Headgear and Winder dominate this photo,the winding ropes can clearly be seen entering the the Engine House. Village in the back ground, the white building was the Thurcroft Hotel and Sandy Lane. New set of Hydraulic Chocks at shaft side ready for going underground.

The two lovely old photograph below was very kindly sent in by Mrs Doreen Oldham, First shows the Pit Head Baths and Canteen in the 1940s. Their are people looking through the Canteen windows at the photographer, as well as the three men stood outside. The man on the right of photo is Mrs Oldham's father Ernest Gillmore, bath's superintendent, and thats his car on the left. The gardener on the left is Mr Henry Bennett.
