George, played in Goal for Rotherham United, he also played for Dinnington
before signing for Aldershot, approx 1947/48. He was working underground at
Thurcroft Pit at the time.

The three items below where very kindly sent in by Mr Barrie Sanders. First one shows his Father Mr Les Sanders on the right of picture. The photo was taken in 1931 / 32, in the yard at Plant Hotel Mexborough, he along with Ex Guards man Gater Dewsbury (Left of photo) where sparing partners for Harry Crossley (Centre) Cruiser weight World Champion. Mr Sanders lived and worked in Thurcroft.
The faded paper cutting below is from approx 1950. It details the friendship between Les Sanders and the then Captain of Rotherham United Horace Williams.

The Coronation Program below for King George V1 was very kindly sent in by Derek Oxtoby, it is copied to read left to right as you scroll down. The cover is originally Blue with Gold lettering, due to fading of the gold it has been enhanced so it can be seen more clearly.
