To the right Lady with pram is Malcolm's Mother Mrs Connie Needham, Baby Philip Needham is in the pram. Next to Lorna is Elaine Rodgers (nee Needham ). The two photo's below show the Start of construction for the new Scout H.Q. in Thurcroft on Sandy Lane. Photo on Left shows some of the Scouts/Cubs taking the stone wall down on Sandy Lane to give access to the piece of land that was to be used. Photo on right shows a group at the spot where the building is to be built, the man with his back to the camera is the late Ron Matthews (Electrical Engineer) at the pit. Others on photo's not known yet. 1964/65.

Photo on the right below shows Alan (Skip) Barton, (on the right hand side) and possibly Stan Whitley stood with him at Laughton Common Railway Station, approx 1960s. The two photo's below are titled "Thurcroft Shops 1926". The first one shows a Mr Cadman stood in the doorway of his wooden shop, it seems to be lifted off the ground with a ramp upto the shop door. I can see that he is licensed to sell Tobacco. If any one has any more information on Mr Cadman and his shop, let us know.
Second one is of the Co-op store on Woodhouse Green. We don't know the mens names in the doorway, if you do please let us know. The left side window has a large display of Soap products one being CWS, White Windsor Soap. Right side has food produce some of it a display of Jam's, and a £10,000 competition.
This lovely old photograph below is simply titled "Thurcfoft Peace Day 1919". We don't know any more about it or where in the village it was taken.Street Party's were held all over the country in the summer of 1919 to belatedly celebrate the end of the First World War.
The photo below is the house at the top of Peter Street that used to be a Hair dressers, it's decorated with flags etc, for the wedding of Charles and Diana 1981.
The photo below was sent in by Mrs Susan Hamshaw. It shows the Home Coal Delivery Lorry decked out with a model of the Pit winding gear on the back, and is from 1958. Photo taken in front of The Miners Welfare Hall, looks like it's ready to join a parade. (Miners Demonstration) ?.

The cartoon below was sent in very kindly by Andy Cartedge, (Blist). Andy says that This was my favourite shop when i was a lad in Thurcroft and my first employer. I used to deliver Papers for £1.10 a week. Friday Papers were the hardest and the heaviest because of the Advertiser, it was a broad sheet then back in 1974. Every one had there Daily paper plus the Advertiser so it was a welcome relief once i got on to Steadfolds Lane. Thanks Andy, Fred.
