Second one is of a Charabanc Outing in the 1920s, the Charabanc was owned and driven by Mr Ernest Thornton.

The next two photo's show the same Shop on Green Arbour Road.( This is currently G.T.News ).
As can be seen it belonged to W.H. Smith, (1940s). From 1951 to 1970 it was known as and belonged to Lote and Abbott.

The photo of Mrs Lily Davies above was part of Salute the Soldiers Week, a week of events Nation wide as a fund raising scheme to
encourage civilians to save monies in Government accounts such as War Bonds, Savings Bonds, Defence Bonds etc. Thurcroft organised through committee many events for the week 17- 24 June 1944. Parade Concert Party, Cricket Match, German Army equipment show, Special Church Service, etc,etc. The large committee called on the services of all clubs, communities, and groups to collect as much monies as possible, Whist Drives, Baby Shows, Dance's were held in the village with the hope of reaching a target of £14,190. below is a list of monies raised in the Rotherham Rural District. Other donations were also made as shown below, plus a leaflet from that time.

The theme was to be used to decorate a float for the miners demonstration in approx 1959, all the paper ma-cha figures were made at
Thurcroft School by the pupils, (see second photo) of Christine with the Mad Hatters figures on the float out side the Welfare Hall.

The next five photo's are of the Brick Works that stood at the top of Pit Lane that has been replaced by housing.
